The G33/40 was a German adaptation of the Czech vz33 carbine. It was shorter and lighter than the standard issue K98k and can be easily distinguished from its rifle-length brother by the full-length handguard and unique bolt handle. Despite the outward similarities between this rifle and the K98k, almost no parts are interchangeable.
This is a rifle I owned for about 20 minutes before it was repacked and shipped back to the seller. It had several issues and I wish, in retrospect, I’d recorded the serial number. The seller failed to disclose a badly bulged barrel, a crack at the wrist, and holes in the sling inlet. In their sale photos, they had left a sling on the rifle, hiding the holes in the sling inlet. They specifically stated that there were no cracks in the stock, and I suppose they were just hoping I wouldn’t notice the bulged barrel.
